release day

yesterday was release day for Loveless by Alice Oseman! it has an ownvoices aro/ace main character and i've been waiting for this for months. but i still totally forgot about release day until i saw it on Alice Oseman's instagram. i decided to go on an evening shopping trip, since the book shop had it, and it was Thursday meaning shops were open until 21:00. i don't usually go out after dinner so this was some exciting variation.

i started reading the book immediately, i didn't stay up too late last night but i love it so far. the recognition!!

my soul is exploded

you ask me how i'm doing and how do i express to you that i just had the most intense reading experience in my life? that i just read a book that touched me so personally, that i could relate to so deeply, that made me feel so seen? a book that was written for me and for all asexual and/or aromantic people like me? that i have spent the past eight hours laughing and crying and smiling until my face hurts and pacing around my room and flailing wildly and screaming on the inside? that i feel like my soul has exploded and my body is a broken, empty husk, and that i feel better than i have in months?
