friendship under dimming stars II
May. 28th, 2024 01:10 amIn the last no-longer-great cities before the end of time,
Their lights indifferent to the old and tired stars,
I know they will remember love stories.
Worn-out spaceships in idle orbit
Still sing great romances to each other in the void.
Once the hottest stars and passions have burned out
I hope they still remember this:
Old friends walking hand in hand along the city streets
And sometimes looking up at the emptying sky.
If letters are still carried by those ships
On the dust-winds between dimming stars
I hope they are exchanged by friends
Keeping each other company as all winds down.
I hope there is friendship until the end.
I hope there is friendship beyond the end.
