everything is a cycle of
  1. buy a seasoning/spice/condiment for a dish
  2. "oh no, i don't need this for anything else, i'll never finish all of it"
  3. proceed to use it all over time
  4. run out and panic
  5. buy more
  6. proceed to not use it anymore
