higher standards
May. 28th, 2022 10:54 pmi'm still laughing at an incident that took a while back, when i invited a friend over for dinner. i made noodles with a tomato-egg sauce, which is really simple bit so good. i asked a Chinese friend beforehand if she thought that would be good enough to serve a guest. she asked whether the guest in question was Chinese, in which case there would have to be something more. the reason i think it's funny is because i was actually thinking the exact same thing. i do hold myself to a higher standard when i cook for Chinese people.
