progress report after 3 pages read

i finally started reading Dragon Pearl for Yoon Ha Lee, i've wanted it forever! but somehow i don't feel like reading now. i was only about three pages in when i already noticed that my expectations were too high. i don't know, based on my past experience with Machineries of Empire, i guess i kind of expected Yoon Ha Lee to step out of the book the moment i opened it and personally stab me in the face.
