"opposite"
Jan. 27th, 2021 02:23 pmaccording to our current theoretical models, it is not possible for me to be in a straight relationship if the definition of "straight" includes "between opposite genders" as a necessary condition, since nonbinary genders generally don't have opposites (although this of course varies per gender).
now, i'm unwilling to discount outright the possibility that there is a gender exactly opposite to my specific gender. however, i rather suspect that, in any theoretical model that permits the existence of a gender opposite to mine, "female" and "male" are not opposite*. this means that, in order to define a relationship between a woman and a man as straight, such a model's definition of "straight" would need to be specific enough to, again, exclude my gender.
*i am skeptical about the possibility of a gender opposite to mine under any model where male and female are opposite. that said, the entire construct of "opposite" genders is dubious to be to begin with.
