strong suit

my father loves the cooking technique part of cooking, and he's good at it: boiling or steaming or frying or grilling meat or vegetables just the right way, at just the right temperature, for just the right duration to make them perfectly cooked, with good texture and juiciness and so on. that part is of secondary importance to me; i'm happy with my food as long as it's not undercooked.

to me, the most fun part is the seasoning – choosing the right ingredients in the right combinations and amounts to get good and exciting flavours. that's something my father admits to struggling with.

so today i marinated the meat for him to barbecue. we each got to do the part that we're good at and that we enjoy.
