i seem to be developing grammatical gender in English, in that i treat some nouns and pronouns like "person" and "someone" as always neutral, even when they refer to a known person who does not use they/them pronouns. i could even imagine myself producing things like:
  • she is someone who isn't afraid to speak their mind.
